Gallery - Foothills Trail
My wife Galaxy has hiked portions of the Foothills Trail in the past, one incidence was a 28 section Ultimate Hike for St. Jude's back in 2012. Ever since then she has wanted to complete the trail in its entirety. In the spring of 2021, I took my wife and our 9 year old daughter to tackle the roughly 76 mile trail during Spring Break. The longest day was 18 miles, and we hiked late into the night and early morning to beat a huge storm system and get to one of our vehicles parked roughly in the middle at Bad Creek. This was our daughter's first real hiking trip, and she handled the 18 miles like a rockstar. We took the next day as zero after finding a hotel around 3am. Taking the next day off turned out to be the right decision. It poured all day. After spending our off day eating everything we could find, getting Galaxy new shoes (see upcoming Altra blog post for that), and washing the kid's hair, we prepared to set out early the next morning and reset the vehicles. After moving one vehicle from Table Rock to Ocoee and heading back to Bad Creek, we returned to the trail. We hiked from March 27 to April 3 taking approximately 7 days in total.
