About Me
Hey, I'm Wanderer...
I've been wearing a backpack just about my entire life. I walked to school in Germany and over a mile back and forth while in grade school in Texas. I was both a Boy Scout and in JROTC in high school, and spent my youth backpacking through the wilderness of Georgia. After graduation, I joined the Army as an Infantry Soldier and began building the base of my physical fitness. I patrolled through the mountains of Afghanistan with over a hundred pounds of gear.

I started my civilian life thinking I knew about backpacking. I carried a heavy Army rucksack and wore narrow, heel stacked shoes. A long day to me was anything over 15 miles and a light pack was 35-40 lbs. I knew nothing of proper pack fitment or of quality, ultralight gear.

My first go at a thru-hike was in 2015 when I attempted the Appalachian Trail. After 800 miles and an injury, I had to take a break. I completed the Pinhoti Trail in 2016 which reaffirmed that long-distance hiking was something I enjoyed. I attempted the AT once more in 2017. After a few years and defying COVID, I thru-hiked the AT in its entirety in 2020. I completed the Benton MacKaye Trail, Foothills Trail, and Pacific Crest Trail in 2021. This year, 2022, I will be hiking the Continental Divide Trail to secure my Triple Crown.

I am thankful for the love and support of my wife and family, and I am continuously thankful for the opportunities that have been given to me that allow me to do what I love.
